Malaysians to get ‘Tune money’

Malaysians are given yet another way to travel. Want to have total control on how much to spend during a trip? Meet "Tune money."
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (eTN) – Tune, the group that introduced Malaysian travelers to budget flights and Asia’s first no-frills hotel, has announced a new concept called “Tune money.”In a three-way tie up with credit card company Visa and one of Malaysia’s mobile phone networks, Celcom, “Tune money” will function as a prepaid Visa card and is estimated to be made available by December this year."Cardholders will be able to transfer money via simple mobile phone to mobile phone transactions besides using it to withdraw cash from Visa's global network," said CEO Tengku Zafrul Aziz. The new financial service offered by the group is expected to attract up to a million subscribers by next year, according to the company’s projections. In addition to targeting traditional high-end travelers who prefer the prepaid card to control their travel spending, the new travel scheme is also eyeing the estimated 3 million foreign workers in the country who will now have a low-cost payment card."Tune Money prepaid card holders will not only be able to withdraw cash from ATMs around the world, but make purchases at any merchant outlet that has a Visa plus mark at their outlets," added Tengku Aziz.
